Safety

We create safe, racist-free spaces for the black community to learn about water safety and drowning prevention

Inclusion

Our focus is to help Black athletes improve their swimming ability. Individuals of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome We are a safe space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals

Equity

Understand, accept and respect the experiences and needs of others and work together so that the community has the skills and support they need to feel confident in the water

Justice

People have a right to swim in natural and built swimming facilities

Dignity

All athletes and participants are worthy of respect and to be treated with respect

Humility

Promoting mastery of skills progression along with leadership initiatives, self-education

Curiosity

Keep asking questions to support change

Camaraderie

Stand side by side to collaborate with Black community organizations, groups, and individuals that are already doing this work

Environmental Stewardship

Taking care of the water we swim/play in and being aware of how the water can change

Create a program the black community will own and grow as more community members are active in the water

Knowledge sharing and informal mentorship, empowerment and raising awareness of racial disparities
